Moving out isn’t always a time of pleasure… Between renting a truck, find people to move our furniture and fill boxes, change of home can be a source of stress. The first of July, it’s Canada Day, but for many, it’s also the perfect day to leave your little home to find comfort elsewhere. If you just finish moving out, congrats! You just have to undo boxes and arrange the rooms in your house.

Nothing’s better, after a hard day moving boxes, tables and chairs, to pour a glass of wine and read a good book. Did you know that reading has many benefits? In addition, to help reduce stress, reading helps keep the brain healthy and increases the quality of sleep. If you’re thinking of setting up a reading corner, we have some ideas for you!

Add Greenery

A good way to create your new corner would be to add a few plants to your shelves and tables. Indeed, by annexing plants, it helps lower blood pressure, reduces muscle tension and increases productivity. The Capi planters will fit well with your living space, and can also be used outdoors by simply drilling a drainage hole. If you have trouble with the maintenance of plants, there are also self-watering pots that will help you keep your plant alive longer!

For those who don’t have a green thumb, we have some tips to help you keep your plants healthy!

Posture is important

You particularly enjoy long reading sessions, it’s important to sit well and have a good posture. By adopting a good position, it reduces various ailments, increases concentration and allows a better balance of muscle. Fortunately, we have some chairs to offer that will make your long reading sessions much more enjoyable! With its adjustable and removable headrest, the Lafuma Zero Gravity chair is definitely worth considering if you enjoy reading outside on your balcony. With its position called “zero gravity,” the legs are placed slightly above the level of the heart to ensure maximum relaxation.

For those who prefer to read in the comfort of their living room, the Acapulco chair by Innit Design is your best friend. Its sloping backrest offers the ideal position for relaxation as well as sunbathing and its openwork design gives it a style of lightness even in more restricted spaces.

A little light in all that…

Often, our parents told us that it’s important to have light when reading, since it could damage our eyes… They weren’t quite wrong. Although reading in the dark can’t cause permanent damage to the eyes in the long term, in the short term it can lead to headaches or eye strain. It’s advisable to place the light source so that the light shines directly on the pages rather than above the shoulders to avoid being dazzled.

Edison The Petit FatBoy Lamp is perfect to relieve your eyes during your long sessions. Waterproof, light and wireless, it will be able to accompany you as much in your house as on your balcony. In addition, it offers a range of 6 hours to 24 hours, you won’t have to worry if you like to read until the wee hours.

You can also opt for a Luci inflatable solar lamp. It blends into any decor and loads directly into the sun in a matter of hours. Since it’s waterproof, you can even take it on a campsite! Of course, several colours are available if you want to customize your corner of rest.

The important thing is to personalize your personal space…

Whether adding greenery, chairs or just lighting, you have to feel at home. By having a personalized space where you feel at ease, it will be easier for you to recover after long days of work. If you want other ideas to better develop your living area, don’t hesitate to go to the Balconier.
